This is one of those dangerous posts. A honest post!

I love being Pastor at Xcel Darlington. I pray about it, think about it, talk about it all the time. You probably expect that, after all, I am the Pastor! My promise has always been to invest in Xcel Darlington, to see it grow & increase, making sure I am the best I can be. Our fantastic team of volunteers work hard to create a great atmosphere and look after you to ensure that your Xcel Church experience is an enjoyable one.

So here’s my frustration. Every week we have a different number. Being honest…it’s so frustrating, the inconsistency of attendance. Where do you go when you are not at Church? I guess it will probably never change but I share some reasons why it’s important that if you are a Christian you get to church…

…there is power in coming together, in worship and in the word
…we are told not to forget ‘Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing’
…the consistency of it builds something in your life – like exercise, if it’s not regular it has little effect
…if it’s important enough to you, then you can always find a way
…we always do our best to play our part, we need you to play yours
…it’s all part of seeking God first and honouring Him

Church is a tag-team event. You tag us when you come in then at the end of every meeting we tag you. Hope you can cope with the honesty but can I encourage you…don’t just be an attender, become a partner with us, don’t just think about Church on a Sunday, think about it every day and how together, each one of us playing our parts can make a BIG difference in the lives of the people of Darlington.

  1. Well I guess some people have good reasons for not turning up on some occasions, but for me personally not turning up on a Sunday is not an option, when I think of who God is…

God is so awesome, He is faithful to us even when we are not so to Him, He is so powerful He can destroy the universe in a blink of an eye, He created everything we see and everything we know of (and more) and yet so He cares for us, He loves us and wants us each as individuals to succeed in life, He gave us our lives and the lives of everyone we know and care about, He gave our lives meaning, He gave us His only Son so we could be with Him in Heaven and made perfect and He has seen me through the bad times as well as the good He has never left my side and I know he never will, so when it comes to going to Church how can I not after all he has done for me?
