Went to Borders the other day. Love going there. Never really get to fully appreciate it when the girls are with me but I did get the opportunity to browse and checked out a few books that look interesting even alllowing for the pile I still have left over from last year!

Leaders are readers. You want to gain some knowledge then you need to be reading and I don’t mean just general fiction. You need to read stuff that will challenge you, inspire you, stretch you, teach you something. Start small. Don’t be intimidated by how much others read – have your own plan, set your own goal and go for it!

This is the last 10 books I have read – what do you think?
Vintage Jesus
Turning Points
Starving Jesus
Wake Up Dead Man
Sticky Church
Moving in the Spirit
Meatball Sundae
Holy Discontent

After any good recommendations. Come July I will be switching my emphasis from reading my Bible in BIG CHUNKS to reading from an ever increasing pile of books.

  1. Recently I read both of Mark Batterson’s books “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day” and “Wild Goose Chase” and enjoyed them. The books that I liked most in 2009 were the first part of Wendy Alec’s Chonicles of Brothers (fiction but with great imagination and spiritual depth) and “The Shack” by William Young. The latter is sort of a either/or book, not too many readers on the fence with it. I, for one, just loved it for imagination and narrative.

If you’re into book-swapping I could swap “The Shack” for “Chazown” and we could exchange them back in October when I’m in your area. 🙂

  2. The problem with my books is that I scribble in them, underline stuff – creating a usable resource. It helps me in my leadership sessions & preaching prep so unfortunately I could not lend it out. Sorry!!

  3. Me and Phil are reading The Five Love Languages. Im also reading Soul Cravings. I’ve a stack of other books to get through and still want more!

  4. You can read ‘So you don’t want to go to church anymore’ for free from http://www.jakecolsen.com/contents.html It’s the BEST book I have ever read – changed my life. It’s amazing; I can’t recommend it highly enough! The authors put it there for free, as they wanted anyone to be able to read it.
