It’s All About The Grace

If it is all about the grace, then what are we doing in life that demonstrates that to others?

Grace to be saved. Grace to live. Grace to be dispensed.

Is it about being the fastest driver? The one who can drink the most? The one who pushes the limits of life to see what they can get away with? Or should our default be at a new setting as Christians?

The Bible tells us the ‘old has gone, the new has come’. That we are to ‘encourage one another’ and ‘spur each other on’. Yet so often we don’t do this. We make light of stuff in peoples lives, we ignore whats really going on, we maybe give a jibe, make fun or just ignore it.

Paul warned the Galatians about this. Living life by your own standards but expecting God to bless you is a wrong way to think. ‘When you attempt to live by your own religious plans and projects, you are cut off from Christ, you fall out of grace’ [Gal 5:4 Message].

When was the last time we chose to show grace?

When was the last time we offered to pray for someone?

When was the last time we asked for prayer or some encouragement instead of just trying our best to work it out ourselves?

Let’s be people of grace. Willing to receive it, live by it and give it.

Such a way of living life doesn’t make us super spiritual, it sets us apart in the way God wants us to be set apart. We are supposed to be different. That way we might just look like the people who have an answer for others who are struggling through some stuff. Then we have opportunities to show the grace of God. Then we appreciate the benefits the life of grace affords us.

‘But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard – things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, 23 not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. [Gal 5:22-23 Message]

I am challenged to make sure I live this grace life the right way. Thankful for the Holy Spirit to help me live it.
