Feeling like you have no energy.
Not every day is a great day.
Yet there is something that I know can help. It’s not necessarily what you want to hear when I tell you what it is. Get into the Word of God.
I know from experience that when people have said this to me that I’ve probably been somewhat dismissive, given a nod of the head, and mumbled a reply, ‘Yeah, I know’.
Go against your feelings and read your favourite verses. Find something around a topic that relates to how you are feeling or what you are needing God to do. Here’s why…
God can only speak out of His character and His nature. It reflects all that is in Him. Since God is pure, the Law is pure. Since God is holy, the Law is holy. Since God is perfect, the Law is perfect. The Law is about Gods best for us, not religion but relationship, because He loves us. Reading it, knowing it and living it will revive, refresh, energise, invigorate and wake me up.
God reveals Himself through His word. If we want to know what God says about something then the best place to go to first is His word. Then look around , to the heavens, to creation, to see His promise-keeping at work. The beginning of the wisdom is to have a healthy fear and reverence for who God is, what He has done and what He will continue to do in and through our lives.
Too many times I have heard people say that they are not sure what God is asking them to do. My answer is simple ~ what does His word say? What was Jesus all about? Love God. Love others. Love the church.
Get in the Word and discover the truth of Gods best for you, learn about living right for Him and you will cause your heart to rejoice.
We can know what is right and wrong. We can have a moral sense of these things. Yet it is the word of God that reveals how much we are in need of the saving grace of our Saviour and then directs us in our life in response to that saving grace.
The Word of God is most often what we need, even though we choose not to go to it. How about a challenge for the next 30 days to be disciplined in our choices and to go to the word every day. To read a Psalm. Or read the Gospel of John. When reading ask God that you might gain fresh perspective on His Law, fresh revelation on who He is, to know His ways and to receive His unending love and grace.
I pray that in doing this you will see your soul revived, gain wisdom for all types of circumstances, that your heart will be happy and your eyes enlightened to Gods way for your life.
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes [Psalm 19:7-8]
