Isn’t this how we often see ourselves…
I’m not up to much.
I’m just doing life and hoping for the best.
I’m just me.
I can put myself down more successfully than anyone else.
I’m no one special.
I may just say that I am dull and average.
Yet here is the good news. God wants me. God wants each one of us. His desire is to be in relationship with those He has created.
I am content that He takes my dull and average and puts it to good use. I don’t need to try and be bright and excellent, I just need to follow Him and to be me.
He takes the foolish things of the world and confounds the wise by what they can do when putting their lives in His hands.
Dull and average is fine. We may feel and actually be unqualified but that’s alright. The work and effort isn’t accomplished on our part, it is has all been done by Jesus.
It’s a good thing as what happens is this: God gets all the glory.
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God [1 Corinthians 1:27-29 ESV]
