Happy Christmas Everyone

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” [‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬]

Praying Gods incredible blessing over all who I know and all those who come and visit this blog. Thanks for passing by, for the encouragement and for the comments too.

2017 is going to be a BIGGER year and the best year yet. Make it a year to become bigger on the inside so that all that happens on the outside will not defeat you.

Make Jesus Lord of your life. Put Him first in all you do. Jesus never disappoints. He is faithful when we lack the ability to be faithful. He is loving when we can be unloveable. He is forgiving when we struggle to forgive both ourselves and others.

May 2017 be a year of Gods favour for you and those you love as you walk with Him.

Walk in faith. Walk in victory. Walk with a Godly confidence. Walk knowing you are never alone, more than a conqueror and that God is on your side.

What are thankful for this Christmas? What are you believing God for in 2017?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from my family to you and yours.

Saved Only Through Jesus

Truly no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his life, for the ransom of their life is costly and can never suffice [Psalm 49:7-8 ESV]

By what can we save ourselves? This is the question that quite possibly troubles many people. We do our very best, we work hard, we accumulate stuff, we may even spend time and ponder the great mysteries of the world, yet none of these can save us. How much would we need to bring to God as a ransom, as a payment to make things right between ourselves and Him?

To walk with God is to realise we are not saved by ourselves. We  cannot be saved through our own best efforts or those of other people. We cannot buy our salvation either. Nothing is worth enough from our own riches to match the price which needs to be paid.

Truly no man can save another.

Redemption does not come through wealth and riches and all that we have gained. It comes only in one perfect way. Matthew Henry in his commentary says it like this ‘Everlasting life is a jewel of too great a value to be purchased by the wealth of this world’.

For someone who has been a Christian for a long time I can forget how difficult this idea can be to grasp. It doesn’t make sense, it seems a little weird but when you know that in reality ‘something’ is missing then you begin to understand that all those things you have tried to fill it with never really satisfy. Nothing quite hits the mark.

As I walk with God, I am, at times, overwhelmed by all that God has done for me. ‘Thank you’ seems insignificant. Yet I must say it. I must be disciplined in my desire to seek Him first. I must live a life that displays Him as Lord of my life, so others can see the difference having Jesus in my life has made, so that by my actions, on behalf of God, some may also be saved.

I cannot pay the price myself, I cannot fill the gap in another persons life, but I can introduce them to the one can, who has, who will.

Today Lord, I pray, help me to live a life that honours You, displays the best of You, that through the way I live for You, others may come to see that knowing You is the best and only way to save themselves. Amen

“As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.”[Psalms‬ ‭42:1‬ ‭ESV]

To thirst is have a strong desire for something. It’s actually a natural thing, how we were created in the first place.

For the deer it was water. Without a flowing stream it would die so it thirsts for water.

It is the same for us, we thirst for water or we will eventually die but the parallel drawn here in the Psalm is that in the same way a deer would just naturally thirst for a stream, we naturally thirst for God.

In simple terms ~ that we would want all that God has for us knowing it’s the only way out soul is truly filled.

Those who hunger and thirst…..will be filled (Matthew 5).

Other things may satisfy for a moment but only God can satisfy completely.

It’s very hot and humid at the moment where I live. You wake up in the night feeling uncomfortable from the heat and needing a drink. A sip of water makes all the difference.

Let’s do the same for our souls and drink of the life-giving water so we remain refreshed and full of life, don’t stay thirsty, God has an abundant supply for us all to receive from.

Let’s thirst and be filled.

Settle It In Your Heart

Make the decision that to follow Jesus means that whatever comes your way, you will keep following Jesus.

Make the decision to stop trying to find a way out and trust God to help you find a way through.

Make the decision to keep walking with God, through good days and other days.

Make the decision that however people may treat you, you will remain restrained, will hold your tongue and instead of bitterness and resentment will show love and forgiveness.

Make the decision to stay planted, that even though you can afford the luxury of thinking about quitting, you will not quit.

Make the decision that just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean it’s the devil. It could just be tough. Allow God to use it to shape for the future.

Make the decision to see God even when you can’t see God. Know that when it looks like nothing is happening that everything is happening. Behind then scenes He is working things out.

Settle these things in your heart. There’s always going to be reasons to want out but guard against them and stay in faith.

Don’t think you can do it. Just look at Joseph (Genesis 37 onwards). If he can travel through all those experiences and remain confident in God to bring about the dream then I’m certain He can do the same for you and me.

Soldier of the King

Check this out ~ my daughter has a blog called Soldier of the King and she has set us all a challenge. A movement actually.

It’s simple really ~ we need to be an encourager of someone else and give a specific reason as to why we think they are amazing, to lift them up. And w
e need to do it for 10 days.

Let’s all get involved. Share it on social media. Invite your friends. Use the hashtag #werisebyliftingothers and let’s put some smiles on people’s faces.

Family Back Home

We have eaten for England this week, laughed at and with one another, been a little afraid on the rides together, but most of all, just enjoyed being with one another.

Family fun is good for my soul. I am tired yet I am refreshed.

Family fun brings us together. Shared experiences are always good.

Family fun made my dad happy. He is full, which I hope you know what I mean, by watching his own children and all the family together.

Did I mention food? Lots of food, especially cake.

Only downside – I crashed the car. Well, I drove into a steel girder in the car park. Not something I really want to have to pay for but never mind. Nothing was hurt, except my pride.

Wedding Vows

At a wedding today. Always great occasions when two people share marriage vows and commit their lives to one another.

As I listened to the vows they reminded me of Jesus’ commitment to me and in return my commitment to Him. It sounds weird put like that but I have given my life to Jesus and have entered a covenant relationship with Him, so the vows could be deemed applicable.

With my body I honour you. I choose to not do certain things that could cause me harm, make me unfit or disqualify me from the best that this relationship with Jesus has for me.

All that I am I give to you. Enough said. All that is me is Gods. With His unmerited favour over my life why would I not be happy to do this?

All that I have I share with you. What I have I willingly give to God. I don’t hold on too tightly to what I thinking important but am always ready to share it on His behalf.

Within the love of God. I live with God at the centre of it all. I let His love change me from within so that I make a difference to those I meet every day.

This is where my current thinking is stuck at the moment. To honour my God, to be occupied by Jesus and living the full life He has for me. How about you?

Resurrection Sunday

Christ is risen from the dead. What we do, how we live, that we have a right sense of purpose, and live differently.

What we do is not a waste time, it matters.

Having spent a week reflecting on the cross, today was about acknowledging the power that raised Christ from the dead, the same power which now resides in us too.

Been a phenomenal day with Xcel Church. Powerful times of praise and worship for Jesus our Saviour. 1200 people across all services. Salvations, loads of new people in church, great gospel message, life transformation stories and a dozen baptisms. It’s why we do what we do.

For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly [‭‭Psalms‬ ‭84:10-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬]
