7 Monday Morning Thoughts

A new day, a new working week.

After a fantastic Sunday and weekend with family and friends, Monday’s can hit us in the face. If we are not careful, we can feel defeated before we have even started. So here are 7 Monday morning thoughts to help us get the most of this week…

Get some time with God. Read your Bible. Hear what God is saying.

Thank God for what He is doing and invite Him in to all that will come your way this week. Pray.

Focus on what you have, not what you don’t have.

Put the big rocks for the week in first. Make it God, family then church. Some simple organising creates space for some creativity.

Keep your soul healthy. Do something fun and not related to your work.

From a work point of view, make a list of some things you want to get done this week.

Go for a walk. Get some fresh air. It clears the head and gives you some time to think too.

What would you add to this list?

7 Things to Be Thankful to God For This Week

be-thankful-001-001

With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good [Psalm 54:6]

Make this week a week of thankfulness. Create space each day for a moment with God where you deliberately appreciate all He has done for you, is doing right now for you and all He will do for you in the future.

Thankfulness is a choice, it will not happen by accident.

Some days thankfulness can be easy and on other days it can be tough. Life is unfair. Life is difficult. Life is not always a party time and celebration. At these times we choose to bring a sacrifice of praise, we bring our thankfulness as an offering, a gift, a purposeful decision. We recognise that is hard but we are deciding to say thank you anyway.

In doing so, we lay aside our own feelings and walk by faith, confident in the knowledge that God is with us, that He loves us and is always with us.

Let me help you with your devotional time this and give you 7 things to be thankful for, one for each day, to help you in your giving of thanks and praise to our God. What you will say thank you to God for will be in relation to your own situation and circumstances.

  • He has saved us, we are adopted in to His family
  • He has helped us, through so many different times
  • He is faithful, and His love never fails
  • He is with us, in all things
  • He is on our future, he has great plans for us
  • He protects us, keeps us safe
  • He hears the cry of our heart

I would love to hear what you thankful for?

God Deals Are the Best Deals

Let’s be honest, there are always good deals to be done. We hunt down the best ones, putting our energies in hope of getting the most in return for the least. The least effort, the least time and definitely the least money.

Yet when it comes to God, there is a different kind of transaction currency. Salvation, it seems, costs me nothing and everything at the same time. Nothing because it wasn’t through anything that I did or could do, yet everything as I lay aside my own life, my arrogance and pride maybe, to take hold of it. The transfer price was paid, all I had to do was accept it had been paid on my behalf.

The deal was done.

I enter into the life God has for me as long as I am willing to surrender. Then through discipleship I understand what it means for me live within this new kingdom, my new home. It takes continued surrender.

It seems like a tough deal on my part but it’s not really. It’s the very best of deals. God is reminding that if I live for Him, the rewards outweigh the cost, the benefits outstrip the challenge I may feel.

Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me. [Psalm 50:14-15]

This is a good deal to me. Thanksgiving and a life lived for God, for deliverance and safety in return. The taking of my time to focus on Him, that my cry for help will be heard. In this manner we glorify God and give opportunity for Him to be glorified in our lives as he shows us ‘the salvation of God’ [v23].

Why not take some time this week to focus your attention on Your God. Give Him some praise, thank Him for saving You, keep your word, that when You call upon Him deliverance will be yours, to the glory of His incredible name.

Your Throne

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭45:6‬ ‭ESV

I read this verse and it caught my attention.

Some days it’s good to remember who God is and who we are in comparison. Or to put it more bluntly, to remember that God is God and we are not.

God is on the throne.

God is on the  throne for eternity, forever and ever.

God is on the throne and has authority.

God is on the throne looking for those who are upright. Not to punish but to bless.

This is why it’s important to remember God wants to be given first place. We have to give Him control, permission to sit on  the throne of our own lives.

When we do this we align our lives with all that God is and we position ourselves for blessing. We don’t need to be afraid as all the judgement for our messing up has been put on Jesus.

In Him we are upright. Amazingly this means we can then come boldly to His throne and ask for help in times of need.

God is a good God. He loves us so much. Why not take a moment today and thank Him for He has done in your life.
