Influence 2015.3

Great session from Pastor Simon McIntyre of C3 Church in London..

We have no patent on the word new
We suffer from historical blindness ~ we don’t learn quickly enough from the past.

Never disconnect your humanity from your faith.

John 17:14-17

I want to be famous – one of the worst goals you can have for your life. Fame and fortune will always corrupt.

Once Jesus drops out of the conversation they are away from God. It’s inconvenient to the culture. When you say Jesus you are saying Lord.

If we become well known, all well and good. If we don’t become known, all well and good.

Create a clear boundary line between being a disciple of Jesus and a follower. It needs to be in our behaviour not our belief.

You don’t attend a body, you are joined to the body. Your once a month will become your child’s once a month will become your grandchildrens never.

What do you make Lord? Your children’s progress or Jesus? Get to church. We need renewing in God’s presence.

There is a moral laxity in our churches but we mustn’t drive people to the cross. Holiness needs to be beautiful.

Influence 2015

Here are my quick notes from a great first session with Canon J John. Incredible night. Here’s some of the key things I picked up…

God will remind us of something we already know, reinforce and ink a truth, or reveal something new.

We look up at the cross, Jesus looked down. His view was different. Help me to see what you see about me. Perspective.

We were all worth saving. Means we are all valuable. No matter how scrunched up or messed up we were worth saving. Precious.

Circumstances are like a mattress. On top is really comfy, under them you suffocate.

Have a sense of belief in God. Take the mustard seed sized faith and plant it in God. Positive.

On our own we are incredibly fragile but together we are more powerful. Partnership with His body.

We can be restricted by the environments we put ourselves in.

What is my capacity? Is there more? We want to reach the potential you have put within us.

Provision. God owns all the doughnuts.

We are just guardians of time, of talent and treasure. It’s Yours Lord. Help me to use it wisely.

Ready for the rest of the weekend now…

Focus & Prayer

It’s been a fantastic day in church. I enjoyed listening to some different voices and hearing how God wants them to live their own individual wide-open spacious life. It’s exciting and a privilege to be let in on the journey that God is taking people on.

And so, now for another week. We make our plans but God ordains the steps.

Another full week is ahead with a variety of things to focus my attention on. As we head towards the biggest weekend in our church calendar focus is the key. We will work like it depends on us but we will pray like it depends on God.

Preparation for Influence Conference is well underway yet the finishing touches always require the greatest effort. I can only encourage you to come and be with us along with our speakers Canon J John, Pastor Ray Bevan and Pastor Simon McIntyre.

Add to that the ongoing conversations about the Xcel 2020 vision and the strategy that goes with it, prayer and team meetings, clarifying details for some short-term mission trips and some general catch ups and other pastoral issues – it’s another full week.

Focus is a key ingredient. Prayer is the essential one. Whatever you are doing this week don’t forget – focus and prayer. Have a great week.
